GCSO Deputies attempt to stop motorcyclist; suspect flees, crashes into tractor trailer & dies
On Wednesday (05/13/15) morning at approximately 2:09 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies located a motorcycle matching the description of one who had eluded other local enforcement agencies earlier in the morning in the area of W Chestnut Expressway and S West By Pass. A GCSO Deputy attempted to stop the motorcyclist after observing several lane violations when the motorcyclist failed to stop and fled from the Deputy at a high rate of speed.
The motorcyclist traveled westbound on W Chestnut Expressway, crossed I-44 and lost control of the motorcycle, striking the center median. Both the rider and the motorcycle slid towards a tractor trailer rig which was turning eastbound onto W Chestnut Expressway from the I-44 westbound ramp.
Life saving efforts were attempted but were unsuccessful and the 45-year old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is considered on-going and being led by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
