Wednesday Morning Shooting in English Injures One
Crawford County (English): A person of interest has been detained after a shooting Wednesday morning leaves an English resident with minor injuries. Around 1:11 A.M., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call, stating that Robert C. Yockey, 43, English, had been shot in the abdomen. Investigators learned that Yockey, seated in the living room while visiting a friend at 702 East 5th Street, English, heard a knock at the front door. Yockey told the visitor to come in, at which point the door opened and a round was fired from a handgun at Yockey. Yockey did not see who the shooter was. He was transported to IU Health in Paoli, where he is listed in good condition. Investigators have identified a person of interest in this case after the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest Wednesday morning for a separate crime. Detectives and deputies are actively following up on leads and information; however, the identity of the suspect will not be released until charges are filed. This case remains under investigation.
