Alleged Meth lab found in rural Pleasant Township home.
On 05/14/2015 at around 10:30 am, Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist the Steuben County Probation Department with a probation home visit in the 4200 block of west CR 103 south in rural Pleasant Township. During the home visit, some items commonly associated with the manufacture of Methamphetamine were observed inside the residence. Sheriff’s detectives and the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Clandestine Lab Team were then called to the scene to assist in the investigation. After the initial items were discovered during the probation home visit, the resident identified as 25 year old Jeremiah R. Mathes consented to a full search of his property. During the course of that search, several more items believed to be commonly associated with the manufacture of Methamphetamine were located both inside the residence and outside in the trash. Mathes was later arrested and booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of manufacturing Methamphetamine, a level 5 felony. He remains held on a probation hold pending and initial court appearance. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Steuben County Probation Department and the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Section’s Clandestine Lab Team.
