SUMMER SPLASH EVENT
Summer is just around the corner and many of us will be looking to cool off and have fun in the water. Unfortunately, with the fun comes the risk of drowning. Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional deaths for children ages 1 to 4, the second leading cause of unintentional deaths for children 1-14 years, and is the 5th leading cause of unintentional deaths for all ages in the United States. To help prevent water related incidents and drownings in our community, the Maricopa Fire Department, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Copper Sky Recreation Center and other local organizations are teaming up to host the third annual Safe and Healthy Kids Summer Splash. The main focus is on keeping kids safe, healthy and involved during the summer months and save lives.
This is a free event that will have plenty of activities for the kids including spraying water from the fire truck, walking through Maricopa Fire Department’s Safety House, CPR lessons and an open swim from 7-8pm. Food and ice cream will be provided by local vendors at an additional cost.
The event will be held May 22, 2015 at Copper Sky Recreation Complex located at 44345 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Maricopa, AZ 85138.
Please come join your local Firefighters and community programs at this year’s Safe and Healthy Kids Summer Splash.
