The Auburn Police Department will be participating in the annual “Join the NH Clique’ Seatbelt Campaign” in May
The Auburn Police Department will be participating in the annual “Join the NH Clique’ Seat belt Campaign” on May 18 through May 31, 2015. The campaign is sponsored by the NH Highway Safety Agency and funded by National Highway Traffic Safety Agency.
Officers will be working patrols that primarily focus on occupants of motor vehicles that are not in compliance with NH seat belt law. The law, under RSA 265:107-a, requires drivers and passengers under the age of 18 to be properly restrained with a seat or safety belt. There are also age and height requirements for children to be properly secured in child restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle. The penalty for a 1st offense is $50 and $100 for a 2nd or subsequent offense.
While officers are generally vigilant during normal patrols, this program provides the opportunity to remind everyone of the dangers involved and the need to buckle up throughout the year.
