Homeowner interrupts burglary in progress, suspects caught by GCSO Deputies after brief pursuit
On Tuesday (05/19/15) afternoon, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence located in the 2400 block of S Camber in eastern Greene County when the homeowner came home for lunch and observed a suspicious SUV parked in her driveway. The homeowner confronted the female driver of the SUV and learned there was an unknown male also in her home. The homeowner then called 911 and GCSO Deputies rapidly arrived in the area.
The two suspects fled from the location in the SUV and were stopped in the area of E State Highway D and S Pin Oak Dr. The 32-year old female was detained and the 34-year old male suspect fled on foot for a short distance but was also apprehended.
Four other residential burglaries have been reported within a 3-mile radius from this location in the past 6 months. "We have been able to arrest at least 4 people involved in these daytime burglaries thanks to the quick thinking and swift actions of our citizens," states Sheriff Jim Arnott.
Both suspects have been arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail. A 4-year old child who was located in the vehicle has been placed in the care of the Division of Family Services. The investigation is considered on-going and charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
