ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE IS AS FOLLOWS:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), along with Crisis and Hostage Negotiators are still trying to come to a peaceful resolution with a woman barricaded in a mobile home park community at the 4200 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Topanga, unincorporated Los Angeles County.
Today, at approximately 5:35 a.m., Malibu Station received a call from a woman stating she was having a medical emergency and needed assistance. When the fire department and Malibu Station deputies arrived to render aide to the woman, she brandished a firearm in a threatening manner at the fire department personnel.
In an effort to protect the fire department personnel and themselves, deputies retreated to an area of safety and requested additional Sheriff’s Department resources. The immediate surrounding areas of the mobile home park have been evacuated.
SEB personnel and negotiators have worked tirelessly throughout the day using various tactics to try and persuade the woman to surrender peacefully. All efforts to this point have been unsuccessful and the woman remains barricaded at this time.
The situation is still active. The Sheriff’s Department appreciates the community’s patience with this incident.
