Announces An Arrest For:
Trafficking Cocaine, Resisting a Public Officer, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance and Felony Possession of Cocaine.
The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Derrick Delmont Malloy, 32 years of age of Southern Pines, North Carolina for Trafficking Cocaine, Resisting a Public Officer, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance and Felony Possession of Cocaine.
On Thursday May 21, 2015, at approximately 11:20 pm, the Southern Pines Police Department was conducting an investigation into narcotic activity at 1180 W. Wisconsin Avenue Southern Pines, NC. During this investigation, as officers approached the residence at 1180 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Derrick Delmont Malloy fled the home on foot. Officers pursued Derrick Delmont Malloy who was apprehended in a wooded area behind the home. At the time of his arrest, officers recovered 70 grams of powder cocaine, electronic scales, drug packaging supplies and $5,580.00 in U.S. currency. During the apprehension of Derrick Delmont Malloy, one Southern Pines Police Officer sustained a laceration injury to an arm.
Derrick Delmont Malloy appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Facility under a $75,100.00 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County District Court.
