Office of Emergency Management warns of potential flooding that could occur between May 24-25, 2015
FROM: THE GARLAND COUNTY JUDGE’S OFFICE AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Potential Flooding Advisory For May 24-25, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After participating in a conference call with the NWS and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management Friday morning, there is the potential for SIGNIFICANT rainfall over the coming weekend, into the Memorial Day Holiday. The expected heaviest rainfall amounts for Garland County could top 4.0” overnight Sunday into the morning hours Monday.
After the recent rains and ground saturation that has already occurred, the potential for FLASH FLOODING is very strong.
All residents in low lying areas that are prone to flooding should prepare for this event.
All residents/ranchers with livestock along flood prone creeks and waterways should make preparations to move your animals to higher ground or safe locations.
As always, if faced with water covering a roadway, TURN AROUND – DON’T DROWN!
As little as 10-12” of water, especially if flowing water, can float a vehicle and strand you in the middle of a flood!
Keep your awareness to this situation by monitoring your news/weather/social media outlets.
