On Tuesday May 26, 2015, Waters and Bugbee will be completing the final stages of the gas pipe project. There will be work done at the intersection of Kinderkamack Road and Westwood Ave on Tuesday the 26th and Wednesday the 27th. This work is to tie the new gas mains into the existing gas mains that are below the road surface. All of the work will be completed during these days in order to limit impact to the business district.

On Tuesday May 26, 2015, there will be three pits made, tied in, backfilled and paved. Two of these are on each side of Fireman’s Park and the third one is at the intersection of Westwood Ave and Bogart Place. This will allow for the work to be done without completely closing down any of the roads leading into and out of the business district. This detour will be staffed by four police officers and is not expected to create any major traffic delays. All of the business district will be accessible and parking will not be shut down.

On Wednesday May 27, 2015, there will be another three pits made, tied in, backfilled and paved. These are in the intersection of Westwood Ave and Kinderkamack Road. This will necessitate a closure of the intersection. This detour will be staffed by six police officers and the detour for southbound traffic will run off Kinderkamack Road to Irvington Street, to Fairview to Bergen and back onto Kinderkamack. This detour will reverse for northbound traffic. Each of the intersections will be manned to pull cars through and to make information available to those passing through the detour. Westwood Ave from Fairview to Kinderkamack will be limited to local traffic only. This means that there will be parking available, but cars will not be allowed to go through the intersection at Kinderkamack Road. Signage will be posted to alert motorists that the businesses are open.
