Dearborn County Resident David Meyer Receives Promotion From ISP
Aurora – Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter has promoted Dearborn County resident David N. Meyer, a 19-year veteran of the Department, to Sergeant.
Master Trooper Meyer received the promotion to Sergeant recently after participating in a competitive promotion process.
In his new capacity, Sergeant Meyer will supervise a squad of Versailles district troopers and perform other Post administrative duties.
Sergeant Meyer is a 19-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He was appointed in December 1995 as a member of the 53rd ISP Recruit School and upon graduating was assigned as a Probationary Trooper at the Versailles Post. During his assignment at the Versailles Post, Master Trooper Meyer served as Field training Officer (FTO) as well as performing regular road patrol duties in Dearborn County. Master Trooper Meyer is a firearms instructor, participated as Marijuana Eradication coordinator and has served as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP) before joining the South Zone SWAT team. Meyer served on the South Zone SWAT team, which covers 32 counties, for fourteen years and reached the rank of Assistant Team Leader during his last four years on the team. Meyer returned to road patrol in Dearborn County in 2014 until his recent promotion to Sergeant.
Sergeant Meyer is a 1992 graduate of South Dearborn High School and graduated in 1994 from Vincennes University with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. He attended one year of study at Ball State University before being selected to attend the 53rd Indiana State Police Recruit School. Sergeant Meyer currently resides in Dearborn County with his wife and three children.
Sergeant Meyer when asked recently why he wanted to be an Indiana State Trooper: “I can remember telling my parents (Mike and Wanda Meyer) that I wanted to be a Trooper when I was in the third grade!”
