(Whitley County, IN)-A husband and wife were arrested earlier this evening following a vehicle pursuit after it was purported that the two had taken the vehicle that they were in at gunpoint from its owner in southern Noble County only minutes earlier.
According to Trooper Justin Snyder, at approximately 6:45 p.m. a gray 2007 Subaru Forrester was taken at gunpoint from its owner in the 0600 east block of County Road 600 S in Noble County by Marty Robbins, 46 and his wife Dawn Robbins, 40, address unknown. The Robbins couple had allegedly taken another vehicle at gunpoint from a victim in Kosciusko County earlier in the day and left it at the residence in Noble County before taking the Subaru.
As officers from the State Police, Whitley and Noble Counties headed to the area of 600 S, the Subaru was found in a field at approximately 6:57 p.m. by a Whitley County Deputy in the area of County Road 450 E and Anderson Road. Over the next 11 minutes, Troopers Snyder, Jeremy Brice and Jonathon Amburgey pursued the vehicle as it made its way both off-road in fields and on County Roads before it crashed in the area of County Roads 300 N and 550 E.
Both Marty and Dawn Robbins were taken into custody by Troopers and a revolver was also located after it had been thrown out of the vehicle. Both were transported by Noble County Deputies and are being held in the Noble County Jail on charges related to the taking of the Subaru at gunpoint. Charges relating to the pursuit will be applied for by Trooper Snyder through the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office. Marty Robbins was also being sought by the United States Marshal Service for an outstanding federal arrest warrant.
Agencies assisting were the Noble County Sheriff Department, Whitley County Sheriff Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff Department, Churubusco Police Department, Ligonier Police Department, Columbia City Police Department, and the Indiana Conservation Officers.
