44-year old male in custody after leading GCSO Deputies in pursuit, also suspect in burglary of an eastern Greene County home
On Thursday (05/28/15) afternoon, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home located in the 1500 block of North Farm Rd 197 in eastern Greene County where the homeowner reported a burglary. Stolen items included a handgun and electronics. The owner was able to provide a possible location near East Kearney St and North Packer Rd for one of the electronic items. A GCSO Deputy located a suspect vehicle. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and contacted the driver, observing the stolen handgun inside the vehicle. The suspect drove away from the traffic stop, fleeing from the Deputy. Both the Springfield Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol provided additional support and assistance during the pursuit.
The suspect fled on foot from the vehicle in the area of N State Highway 13 and E State Highway WW where a perimeter was immediately established. GCSO Deputies with the assistance of K9 Lor located the suspect in the wooded area where he was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect received medical attention before being transported to the Greene County Jail. Charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review.
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work of our Deputies and their dedication to protect the citizens of Greene County," states Sheriff Jim Arnott.
