O’Neal Wimberley Jr. (48) of 1778 County Highway 472, Sikeston, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in the Second Degree and two counts of Misdemeanor Assault.
Sheriff Walter states that on Thursday, May 28, 2015 the Sheriff’s Office was assisting in the repossession of farm equipment at Wimberley’s Farm located at 1778 County Highway 472, Sikeston. While a deputy was speaking with the other two victims, who were present to repossess the equipment, Wimberley was seen traveling at a high rate of speed on County Highway 472. Wimberley turned in the driveway and stopped. Wimberley then accelerated and began traveling towards the deputy and other victims.
The deputy kept telling Wimberley to stop and was putting his hand up to show Wimberley to stop. Wimberley failed to stop or slow down and continued towards them. The deputy drew his issued firearm and told Wimberley to stop, but he did not. The deputy pointed his firearm at Wimberley and told him stop again. Wimberley then stopped approximately three feet from the deputy and other victims. Wimberley refused to get out of the vehicle. He told the deputy “No, you need to get the @$*# out of my way.” Wimberley eventually complied and exited the vehicle.
Wimberley was placed under arrest and transported to the Scott County Jail. Wimberley was booked in the jail pending the filing of formal chargers by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.
Wimberley remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $500.00 cash only.
