Riley Fire Department Battles Afternoon Residence Fire
Riley Fire Department responded to a residence fire this afternoon. Upon arrival, firefighters found the residence of 6320 State Road 159 heavily involved in fire. The home was owned by Steven & Stacey Glass and was occupied by 2 adults & 2 teenage children. Thankfully, none of the occupants were home at the time of the fire. The fire was first noticed by a passerby who came to the Riley Fire Department just down the road to report the fire. Firefighters contained the fire to the room of origin in 30 minutes. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Honey Creek, Seelyville, Sugar Creek Fire Departments along with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police assisted with the fire and State Road 159 was closed for two hours while the fire was extinguished.
Firefighters would like to remind everyone of the importance of having working smoke alarms in all sections of your home especially sleeping areas.
