Anchorage SWS Driver Receives National Award for Safe and Exemplary Service
Marcial Magsambol Named 2015 Driver of the Year by National Waste & Recycling Association
LAS VEGAS (June 2, 2015) – Marcial Magsambol, a driver for the Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services Department, received a Driver of the Year Award from the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) at a special awards ceremony today in Las Vegas.
“Marcial’s safety record, commitment to his company and community, and his dedication to customer service are a source of pride for the entire waste and recycling industry,” said Sharon H. Kneiss, president and CEO of NWRA, the trade association that represents the private sector waste and recycling services industry.
Magsambol, who has worked for the Solid Waste Services Department for more than 17 years, is one of the safest drivers in the entire department. He drives an average of 900 miles per week throughout the Municipality of Anchorage, where he runs loads from the Central Transfer Station to the Anchorage Regional Landfill several times per day.
Managers describe his driving skills as “second to none and (have) earned him the respect of his peers, supervisors and Solid Waste Services management alike.”
“I’m proud that I can serve the community and accomplish my job in a safe manner,” Magsambol said. “I’m honored to be recognized for my record.”
The awards ceremony in Las Vegas is part of WasteExpo 2015 (www.wasteexpo.com), North America's largest solid waste and recycling tradeshow.
