News about Railroad Crossing safety from Sheriff Doug Cox. Please read below or click http://tiny.cc/nkj0yx
Sheriff Doug Cox would like you and your children to think about safety while around railroad crossings. Trains have killed four and injured 36 people in Indiana through March of this year. When approaching a train track, be sure you come to a complete stop, look, and listen for oncoming trains. Do not walk or drive around rail gates and do not ignore flashing red lights and bells. This also includes uncontrolled railroad crossings when you hear a train horn approaching. Do not attempt to beat the train across the railroad crossing. Trains are actually moving faster and are closer than they appear. Do not walk on or over tracks that are not an official crossing for vehicles and pedestrians. Do not remain in your car if it is stuck on the train tracks. Activate your emergency flashers and call for help once you and other occupants move away from it. Please view the attached document for more railroad crossing safety tips.
