On June 3rd a fraud report was filed in the 200 block of White Tail Court. The victim attempted to buy a cell phone through an ad on Craigslist. Once the victim received an email with a tracking number and confirmed a package was being shipped to him he transferred money to the seller. The victim received the shipment and upon opening the box discovered he was shipped a box of rocks. The seller is not taking calls or email after the transaction. Please be aware of scams and frauds when dealing with Craigslist and or sellers requesting money orders, green dot or vanilla card style transactions. Not all but most will likely be a scam and you will be out of your money. These scam artist use burner phones, fake names and i.p. addresses that are not tied to them in any direct manner. This makes it difficult to track down the suspects to be arrested and charged.
