Is it real or is it fake?
On Sunday, June 7th 2015, a Campbell Police Officer observed two individuals engaged in what appeared to be drug activity to the rear of Safeway (2341 S. Winchester Boulevard). Upon seeing the officer, one suspect fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed, running the red light at San Tomas Expressway and Budd Avenue, nearly causing a collision.
Officers were able to eventually stop the vehicle and found that the driver was on probation. He was in possession of methamphetamine for sale and was also under the influence. He had a checkbook in his possession that had been stolen from an auto burglary at the Santana Row shopping center.
During the search of the suspect’s vehicle officers found what appeared to be a Dan Wesson handgun (similar to a Colt Python). Upon further inspection, it was determined to actually be replica pellet gun.
The suspect, Ali Abdi, 33 years of San Jose was arrested on the following charges:
• Felony Reckless Evading
• Possession for sale of methamphetamine
• Under the influence of a controlled substance
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Driving under the influence
• Possession of stolen property
• Violation of Probation
