Willott Road closing between Crescent Hills and Del-Ray beginning Wednesday at 7 a.m. for bridge replacement
Willott Road will get a new surface and a new bridge this summer with construction projects that are expected to begin on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. In order to replace the bridge over Spencer Creek, Willott will be closed between Crescent Hills Drive and Del-Ray Drive for up to 60 days beginning on Wednesday at 7 a.m.
The detour route for the Willott closure includes Jungermann, Mexico and Spencer Roads (see attached detour map).
Various other lane closures will be required throughout the resurfacing project between Jungermann Road and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. And, the Spencer Creek Trail crossing on Willott will be closed to pedestrians during road construction.
The resurfacing project will replace defective concrete slabs on Willott and diamond-grind the entire surface between Jungermann and Mid Rivers Mall Drive to improve smoothness. Other improvements will include construction of bike facilities, ADA upgrades and traffic signal improvements.
A new bridge will replace the existing three-lane bridge on Willott at Spencer Creek west of Jungermann. Willott also will be widened and realigned between Jungermann and Del-Ray. The new bridge will include expanded bike and pedestrian crossings.
The Covenant Park parking lot and park facilities in this area will be accessible during the project; however, pedestrians will not be able to cross Willott at the Spencer Creek Trail.
The overall project is expected to last 180 days, weather permitting. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through work zones.
