BE ALERT THIS SUMMER!
With the recent increase in pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle related crashes members of the Kitty Hawk Police Department ask everyone to BE ALERT as we move into the summer season. Many of these incidents are easily avoidable if people will take the time to think before walking, biking or getting behind the wheel. Pedestrians should walk against the flow of traffic and bicyclists should ride with the flow. Pedestrians should always use the crosswalks. Bicyclists should always use the provided bike paths. Motorists should never text while driving and avoid habits that draw their attention from the road. Motorists should remember that pedestrians have the right of way in the crosswalk and that they must yield. These common sense tips can help keep everyone safe. Members of the Kitty Hawk Police Department want you and yours to have a safe and enjoyable summer here on the Outer Banks.
