Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne to Participate in High Visibility Enforcement Project
(Fort Wayne, IN)-The Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne will be participating in the High Visibility Enforcement Project based on data provided by Purdue University’s Center for Road Safety and Encompass, that has identified the most dangerous roadways in Indiana from 2010-2012.
According to the data, 53 segments of roadways and intersections have been identified in 18 counties, which have accounted for 418 alcohol-related crashes in Indiana. The area identified in the Fort Wayne District is Clinton Street between Coliseum Boulevard and Coldwater Road in the city of Fort Wayne.
The Indiana State Police will be concentrating enforcement efforts until August 1st to include patrols and checkpoints to saturate this area in an effort to reduce crashes involving motor vehicles, including motorcycles.
The Indiana State Police will continue its zero tolerance policy regarding impaired drivers, passenger restraint, graduated drivers license, and all motorcycle violations. The goal is that strict enforcement of these violations will cause voluntary compliance and will therefore have a positive impact on personal injury and fatal crashes.
