Bluffton Police Department investigating knife attack

At 3:17 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 the Bluffton Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a 76 year old female stating she had been cut by someone. Officers found the victim inside an apartment in the 300 block of Lamar Street profusely bleeding from her neck and arms. She was rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital by Wells County EMS.

The victim was able to name her attacker and give a description of the clothing he was wearing.

At 3:35 p.m. an officer saw a subject matching the suspect’s description behind an adjacent apartment complex. He was holding two large knives and covered in blood. He was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital with a self inflicted cut to the throat.

The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene: Wells County Sheriff’s Office, Wells County EMS, Lutheran Air, and Bluffton Fire Department.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
