Potential threat of flash flooding is possible with the forecasted rainfall
A potential threat of flash flooding is possible with the forecasted rainfall. Normal low lying areas may flood along with areas having poor drainage.
A frontal boundary will be nearby through the weekend. The front, instability, and later deep moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill will result in a continued threat for thunderstorms through the weekend. Torrential rain and localized flash flooding are possible with the heavier storms. Severe weather will also be a possibility at least through Friday. Damaging winds will be the main severe threat, but large hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
To help protect the community DCEMA is providing sandbags. Sandbags and sand are available at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, the Hamilton Township Fire Station on St. Rd. 3, and the Yorktown Fire Station.
You must fill sandbags yourself and should bring a shovel. Directions on sandbagging are available at www.dcema.com
