Severe Weather is Possible this Afternoon and Evening.
The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana is advising of the potential for severe weather and brief heavy rain this afternoon and evening. Strong storms could bring damaging straight line winds as the primary threat if severe weather does occur. Some hail is also possible. Brief heavy rain is expected with these storms and may cause additional flooding in areas that have already seen very heavy rain. Strong winds may topple trees due to the saturated ground. More rain is forecast again for Saturday and Sunday. The Yellow River crested at 11.90 ft. and appears to be on its way down. The Tippecanoe River (using the river gauge at Ora) is at Major flood stage at 14.49 ft. the record is 15.7. There is quite a bit of water still standing in fields, especially in the northeast section of the county.
Storms are expected to impact the area anytime between 2:00pm and 8:00pm
Additional rain is forecast for Saturday and Sunday as well. Now is a good time, to take emergency action to protect you and your property.
Sand and sandbags are available at 9515 King Road in Plymouth ( Just north of the Marshall County Highway Garage). You will need to bring your own shovel.
