Brown County Crash Sends Bloomington Man to Hospital via Lifeline Helicopter
Nashville – Just before 4pm Wednesday afternoon, a crash occurred just inside Brown County on State Road 46 near Summers Place Trail. A 2011 Subaru passenger vehicle driven by Jason Carter of Bloomington was in the eastbound lane, waiting to turn left into a driveway. A 2005 Ford passenger car driven by Zachary Byer of Loretto, Kentucky was approaching the Subaru, also heading east on SR46 at a speed that was revealed to be too high.
For unknown reasons, Byer’s Ford struck the Subaru in a rear end collision.
Carter had to be extricated from his vehicle and was flown to Methodist Hospital via IU Health Lifeline Helicopter.
Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Griggs investigated the crash and was assisted by the Brown County Sheriff's Department, Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Police Department, Columbus Regional Hospital Ambulance and the Lifeline Helicopter (IU Health).
