Trooper Stops to Assist Motorist, Results in Felony Arrests for Cloverdale Couple
Mooresville (Morgan County) – Late Wednesday night Trooper Mike Tummers observed an occupied SUV parked on the emergency berm on State Road 67 just north of Indiana Street. Trooper Tummers stopped and offered assistance to the occupants of the SUV, however they declined. As Trooper Tummers continued to assess the situation, he noticed that both the male and female in the vehicle showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and displayed extreme signs of nervousness.
Trooper Tummers was able to identify the passengers as Tony Williams and Melissa Hatcher, both of Cloverdale. Both Williams and Hatcher consented to a K-9 conducting an open air sniff of the vehicle. Mooresville PD K-9 Officer David Schultz, then utilized his K-9 and conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle. After Officer Schultz advised that he had received a positive indication from his K-9, a search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed items of contraband.
ARRESTED –

Both were transported to the Morgan County Jail by the Mooresville Police Department on the following charges;

The Indiana State Police stresses the filing of criminal charges is only the beginning of the process and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless guilt is proven in court.
