Body of Missing Marshall County Man Found
Leiters Ford – The Indiana State Police investigation into the disappearance of Aaron Tracy Eckman, 20, Lapaz, IN, has to come to a tragic end. Last night at approximately 9:20 p.m., conservation officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources located Eckman’s body in the Tippecanoe River. The body was located approximately a mile from where he was believed to have fallen in the river.
Eckman was last seen on Wednesday, at approximately 2:00 a.m., near 7934 West Olson Road, Leiters Ford, IN. He was allegedly visiting his girlfriend’s relatives at that address. Officers had been searching for Eckman after receiving information that he had possibly fallen into the Tippecanoe River.
Conservation officers utilized boats and sonar to search the river for Eckman.
Family members have been notified.
Criminal activity is not suspected.
“The work performed by the conservation officers is to be commended,” stated First Sergeant Bob Burgess, district investigative commander for the ISP Peru Post. “They risked their own safety by working in the swift currents and the high water of the river to bring a resolution to this tragic case.”
Officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department also assisted with this investigation.
