On June 21, 2015 at approximately 8:17 p.m., police officers from the Noblesville Police Department responded to the address of 15722 Chapel Park Drive East (Noblesville) in reference to a report of a person threatening to harm themselves. Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and begin to investigate.

Officers located the individual in the backyard of the address and made an attempt to communicate with him. A few moments later officers reported that the individual took his life as a result of a gunshot wound.

The individual has been identified as Robert “Keith” McCauley, 49, of Noblesville. McCauley was a police officer with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) since 2005. All inquiries regarding McCauley’s employment should be directed to IMPD PIO Sgt. Kendale Adams.

This remains an ongoing investigation and any further information regarding the case will need to be directed to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
