SAFE VENUE FOR CRAIG’S LIST TYPE TRANSACTIONS
When meeting a person to complete a transaction initiated at Craig’s List or similar online websites it is important to choose a safe environment. The Brighton Police Department encourages citizens to utilize the Brighton Police Station to help ensure their safety when meeting directly with online sellers.
The public is encouraged to conduct these transactions whenever possible during business hours in the lobby of the Brighton police building (Mon-Fri 8am-4pm). This location has both audio and video recording that is saved for 14 days. Meetings with online sellers outside of these hours can still be conducted on the front entrance pad to the police station, which has 24/7 video recording and night lighting as well as a direct line phone box to 911 Central Dispatch.
Anyone with questions should call the Brighton Police Department during business hours at (810) 227-2700.
