CLOSURE OF US 223 IN BLISSFIELD POSSIBLE
Officials from Blissfield, Lenawee County, and the Michigan Department of Transportation have been monitoring the flooding in Blissfield throughout the day. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasts predict that the river will not crest until Monday afternoon. At this time, first responders are implementing contingency plans in anticipation of a possible road closure of U.S. 223 at the River Raisin due to increasing water levels and expected levels that may render travel across the bridge to be dangerous.
A decision to close the highway has not been made at this time.
Additional updates will be transmitted as the situation develops.
