Small Improvised Incendiary Device Found at Davis PD
On June 29, 2015, at approximately 2213 hours, a Davis Police sergeant saw a small fire burning outside the Davis Police Department’s north gate. The Davis Fire Department was summoned to extinguish the fire. The small fire was determined to be an improvised incendiary device, intended to harm those in close proximity.
The Yolo County Bomb Squad and the Department’s Evidence Response Team were called out to handle the device and process the scene for any evidence. No other devices were found.
The incident is under investigation by the Davis Police Department in consultation the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). There is no suspect information at this time.
The public is reminded to stay vigilant to suspicious items or packages. If a suspicious object is found outside, get away from it, call 911 and take cover for protection against exploding/burning fragments.
