The Rittman Fire and Rescue Association is comprised of employees of the Fire Department. Each member of the association contributes $40 per year dues to be an active member of the association.

We conduct 3 pancake breakfasts per year, mostly to give back to the community but to also provide funds to purchase refreshments like Gatorade and water for emergency scenes. One of these breakfasts, the one during the Sleepwalker Festival, has been used to help FUND the Fireworks Fund. The other two, Breakfast with Santa and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny provide a community gathering point for the kids and photo opportunity.

Recently, we also started a bicycle poker run to benefit the Akron Children's Burn Unit. Earn for the Burn has had a number of participants each of the last few years and any profits sent to the Burn Unit to offset costs for those who may not have the means to afford needed care.
This explanation is needed so our community does in fact know that our fundraisers are not to benefit the City Administration, they are to benefit the community.

The city does not "TAP" into the Fireworks Fund or the Earn for the Burn fund. 100% of the monies in these funds go to their respective purposes and are not filtered through the City Administration.
