It has been our practice for almost eight years to take a more aggressive approach with illegal fireworks in Bellflower. Consistently, we rank among the highest in illegal firework citations every year. We deploy five undercover vehicles to assist our normal patrol units with firework enforcement on July 3rd and 4th. As you can imagine, fireworks can be rather difficult to enforce since you have illegal fireworks going off amongst a bevy of Safe and Sane fireworks. Not only that, but we must find an individual in possession of the fireworks or lighting them off in order to cite them. Our Deputies consistently do a fine job with this enforcement, and this year was no different. We wrote 92 illegal firework citations, which was the third most written in the past eight years.
