Former St. Joseph Township Employee Arrested for Theft
(Fort Wayne, IN)-Detectives from the Indiana State Police and Allen County Sheriff Department concluded a five month long investigation this morning with the arrest of 50 year old Robert A. Grayless of New Haven on two counts of theft.
According to State Police Detective Clint Hetrick, between June of 2013 and December of 2014, Grayless, who had previously served as the Division Chief of EMS for the St. Joseph Township Fire Department, had been teaching CPR classes to the general public. During that timeframe, more than $9,000.00 should have been turned into the St. Joseph Township Trustee. Hetrick and Allen County Sheriff Detective Sean Kelly’s investigation allege that just over $2,000.00 was actually turned in.
The St. Joseph Township Fire Chief and Trustee brought forth the allegations of theft directly to the State Police in February of this year. Grayless was arrested at approximately 9:30 a.m. at his current place of employment without incident and was incarcerated in the Allen County Jail on the following charges:
- Theft, Class D Felony (Crime occurred prior to July 1, 2014)
- Theft, Level 6 Felony
Grayless’ first court appearance is set for Monday, July 13, 2015.
All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
