The Johnson County Sheriff's Office has investigated five vehicle break-in reports over the past 48 hours in White River Township (Greenwood) area. Most of these thefts are occurring in the Fairview Road & Morgantown Road area. During one of these thefts the homeowners garage door opener was utilized to raise the garage door. It is suspected that the thieves accidentally set it off while rummaging through the homeowners vehicle. Most of these theft reports are from unlocked vehicles. Please help the police in your community by placing your vehicles in the garage of your home when possible. If left outside make sure to lock your vehicle with no valuables inside. Park in well lit areas. Do not leave landscape rocks near where you park your vehicle overnight. Report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement!
