2015 Free Dump Days produced 2,710,430 pounds of garbage for disposal in Anchorage
The 2015 Free Dump Days were held on Saturday May 2nd and Saturday May 9th at the Anchorage Regional Landfill in Eagle River, Alaska. The free dump days are held as a service to our customers and community, and this marked the Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services (SWS) department’s 46th year of participation in the annual Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Citywide Cleanup.
The event continues to grow each year in both participation and in garbage collected from our city streets and neighborhoods. In total, with the help of SWS employees, and numerous community volunteers, SWS processed 6,064 vehicles which dropped off 2,710,430 pounds of garbage for proper disposal.
This is an increase in volume of nearly 10% from the 2014 event. The total garbage collected includes trash collected by Anchorage’s business and residential communities, as well as local schools, parks and roadways.
