GCSO Deputies determine Spfld teenager responsible for large explosion heard in southwest Greene County neighborhood 
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Friday (07/10/15) evening, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of 3300 South Sunrise in southwest Greene County after several people called 911 to report hearing a loud explosion in the area. Witnesses in the area stated after they heard the explosion, seeing a large white cloud of smoke.
Upon further investigation, GCSO Deputies determined the explosion was caused by an "improvised explosive device" primarily composed of sparklers. The device was assembled and detonated by a 15-year old male who lives in the area.
"This is a situation which could have had a devastating outcome, possibly injuring several innocent people or causing property damage," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. GCSO Detectives and the Greene County Juvenile Division are continuing to investigate this incident.
