HEAT ADVISORY

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER AND MID 90S WILL COMBINE WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS TO ONCE AGAIN CREATE HEAT INDICES IN THE 105 TO 110 RANGE.

* A HEAT INDEX OF 105 IS GENERALLY CONSIDERED THE THRESHOLD WHERE THE BODY WILL BEGIN TO SUCCUMB MORE EASILY TO THE EFFECTS OF THE HEAT...MAKING HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE A GREATER CONCERN IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

BE SURE TO CHECK ON PETS AND MAKE SURE THEY HAVE PLENTY OF WATER AS WELL.
