Child Solicitation Inquiry Results In Arrest Of Hartsville Police Officer
Columbus – A Child Solicitation complaint has resulted in the arrest of a Hartsville deputy marshal.
Indiana State Police troopers arrested Lyn Nunemaker 50, of Columbus, after detaining him this afternoon in Columbus. Nunemaker is currently employed as a Hartsville deputy marshal. Nunemaker cooperated during the investigation and was taken into custody without incident.
Indiana State Police Investigator Chris Howell launched an investigation into this matter on July 15, 2015 after receiving a complaint that a female child was being contacted by Nunemaker through text messages. Investigator Howell, with the assistance of ISP Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, gathered enough evidence to obtain a search warrant which was executed around 3:30 PM this afternoon at Nunemaker’s residence, separate from his detention in Columbus.
Nunemaker was transported to the Bartholomew County jail where he was incarcerated facing one count each of Child Solicitation, a Level 5 Felony and Communicating Matters Harmful to a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
This investigation is on-going as search warrants are currently being executed.
