Jonesville – Four Illinois residents were injured during a single vehicle crash on I-65 south of Columbus.

On Sunday July 19, 2015 around 3:20 PM, Indiana State Police and Bartholomew County Sheriff officers responded to single vehicle crash with personal injury on I-65 near the 57mm.

Indiana State Police Trooper Robert Hutson determined that Angela Wright 60, of Chicago, Illinois was driving a 2005 Chevy van north on I-65 when a tire blew out. Wright lost control of the van and traveled off the road and slammed into an earth embankment. Wright was trapped inside the van and later extricated from the vehicle by Wayne Township fire-fighters. Wright was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by IU Health Lifeline medical copter to be treated for a neck injury.

Kenneth Wade Jr. 66, of Chicago, Illinois, was in the front passenger seat and received non-life threatening injury to his arms and legs. Seated behind him was Jabari Ware 17, of Oak Park, Illinois who sustained non-life threatening injury to his arms and legs as well. Kenneth Ware III 28, of Calumet City, Illinois, who was seated in the back row of the van, sustained non-life threatening injury to his arms and legs also. Ware III’s daughters, age four and six, were not injured during the crash. With the exception of Wright, all others were transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

Trooper Hutson believes the use of safety restraints by all of the occupants reduced the severity of their injury during impact.

Trooper Hutson was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Brian Wilson, Master Trooper Tami Watson, Trooper Jacob Tolle, Master Trooper Ed Olibo, Bartholomew County Deputy Wehmiller, IU Health Lifeline helicopter, Columbus regional Hospital Ambulance and 31 Wrecker.
