7/26/15 press release: violation of an abuse prevention order
On July 26, 2015 at approximate 1545 hours Burlington Police Officers responded to an address on North Ave. in Burlington, VT for a welfare check on a female Burlington resident. While officers were at the residence investigating, it was determined that the suspect, Robert Goldsmith was at the address in violation of an Abuse Prevention Order. It should be noted that Goldsmith had violated the same Abuse Prevention Order on July 23, 2015 and was wanted by Burlington Police for that violation.
Goldsmith refused to communicate with police and exit the residence. Officers used extra precautions to ensure the safety of all involved individuals. While attempting to further communications with Goldsmith, he surrendered without incident. No one was injured in this incident and Goldsmith was lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.
A person convicted of a violation of An Abuse Prevention Order under Title 13 VSA 1030(b), shall be imprisoned not more than three years or fined more than $25,000.00 or both.
