SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Car vs. motorcycle fatal crash
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 6:42 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2015
LOCATION: Wyman Road and North County Line Road, Home Township

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a car vs. motorcycle personal injury crash at the intersection of N Wyman Road and E North County Line Roads in Home Township on the evening of Friday, July 24, 2015 at approximately 6:42 P.M.

The investigation revealed that a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Dale Eugene Sunderman, age 58 of Mecosta, was traveling northbound on Wyman Road. Sunderman attempted to make a left turn onto North County Line Road and turned into the path of a southbound 2001 Ford Windstar minivan driven by Darlene Lynn Strong, age 57 of Remus. Sunderman suffered a significant head injury as a result of the crash and was flown from the scene by Aeromed to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Sunderman died on the evening of July 26th as a result of those injuries. Strong was not injured.

Sunderman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Strong was wearing her seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Montcalm County Emergency Services and the Home Township Fire Department.
