7/27/15, press release - aggravated assault
On July 27, 2015 at approximately 2125 hours the Burlington Police Department responded to J.R. Corner Store, located at 144 North Street, Burlington, VT, to a report of a male that had been shot. Burlington Police Officers arrived on scene and located the male victim lying outside on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the thigh area.
Burlington Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and transported the victim to Fletcher Allen Health Care for a non-life threatening injury. At this time the Burlington Police are requesting anyone with information to please call the Burlington Police Department at 802-658-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 802-864-6666.

Burlington Police investigators continue to work the Aggravated Assault from last night and preliminary indicators lead us to believe this was not a random act of violence. The victim has been released from the hospital and was taken into custody for a parole violation.
Police will be conducting an additional follow up investigation in the area of the incident as well as providing additional foot patrols in the area. Officers will also be spending time in the area speaking with residents to address community questions and to learn additional information about the incident. The investigation is still very fresh and will continue to unfold.
