Novato Firefighters on the firelines in Lake County.

Novato Firefighters are on the firelines at the Rocky Fire burning near Clear Lake.

The Rocky Fire has now burned more than 22,000 acres and is threatening several communities in and aournd Clear Lake.

The Novato Fire District has assigned two fire engines, 8 Firefighters, 1 Battalion Chief, and 1 Fire Captain to the firefighting efforts at the Rocky Fire. Our personnel are actively engaged in protecting structures and communities from this aggressive fire and are working in incident command roles.

More than 200 new fires have been reported across northern California over the past 36 hours due to lightning north of us.

All of Novato's fire stations and a equipment remains fully staffed. Additionally, we are staffing one extra fire engine due to the significant numbers of fires burning in northern California and the associated drawdown of firefighting resources and in order to provide superior protection for residents of the Novato Fire District.
