Thursday Night Traffic Stop Nets Intoxicated Driver and Drugs
Martin County (Shoals): A traffic stop Thursday evening resulted in the driver being charged on multiple narcotics charges.
Around 10:25 P.M. Thursday night, Trooper Stephen Sexton was on Chicken Farm Road in Shoals when he observed a maroon 1995 Ford truck traveling all over the roadway, at one point nearly running off the road. Trooper Sexton initiated a traffic stop, pulling over the driver, Nina S. Sherick, 52, Shoals. Through the course of the investigation, Trooper Sexton believed Sherick to have been operating her vehicle while intoxicated; however, Sherick refused to take a breathalyzer test.
After being transported to the Martin County Jail, both methamphetamine and marijuana were found in Sherick’s possession. She was charged with the additional charges.
Trooper Sexton was assisted at the scene by the Shoals Town Marshall and his K-9, and the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.
