PRESS RELEASE: Stabbing Suspect Taken Into Custody
August 5, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At approximately 12:07 a.m. this morning, Warsaw Police responded to Lot 46 at Shamrock Mobile Home Park, on the north side of Warsaw, for a subject with a knife. As officers responded, another call was received that a subject had been stabbed and the suspect still had a knife. Officer’s arrived and found Lucas Pierce inside the residence brandishing a knife. Officers gave verbal commands for the suspect to drop the knife and he refused to comply. Officer’s utilized a single Taser® discharge, which resulted in full neuro muscular incapacitation, and took Mr. Pierce into custody.
The police investigation determined that an argument had occurred earlier in the evening and Mr. Pierce was locked out of the residence and left. Around midnight, he returned and attempted to get in and was pounding on the front door. As he attempted to enter through the back door, he encountered the male victim and cut him on the left shoulder and arm. He gained entry and threatened to kill everyone there, including the small children that were present. To reinforce his threat, Mr. Pierce superficially cut his own throat. During the encounter, Mr. Pierce was described as out of control, and damaged items inside the residence. The investigation found that Mr. Pierce was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs. The victim was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital and released. The suspect was treated at KCH and medically cleared before being booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.
Lucas Pierce was booked on the following felony charges: Aggravated battery; Intimidation with a deadly weapon; Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon; and criminal mischief. He was also served with a warrant for public intoxication.
