19 year old man arrested for the murder of a 25 year old Orrville man.
On August 5th at 1208am deputies responded to a report of a man who had been shot near the intersection of Chippewa and Smucker road in Green Twp.
Upon arrival the deputies discovered the 25 year old victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies provided first aid until the arrival of Orrville Fire/EMS.
Present with the victim was a 21 year old friend of the victim who provided information about the case. The male stated that he and the victim had been riding in a vehicle with three other subjects when the driver stopped the vehicle and allowed the victim and suspect to exit.
Shortly after the pair exited the car, gunfire erupted resulting in the victims injuries. It appears that the dispute may have been over a female that was in the car.
The victim was identified as Michael Amstutz age 25 of 9222 W. High St Orrville. Amstutz was transported to Aultman Orrville Hospital. He did not survive.
Deputies continued to investigate the incident and gather evidence throughout the night and arrested Larry “Casper” Finn age 19, at the home of a relative in Barberton Ohio. Finn stated that he is currently “homeless.” A second man was taken into custody during the investigation but was released after questioning.
“I am proud of the work that was done by all of the officers involved in this case. Not only my own deputies, but those from the Medina County Sheriff's office, the Barberton Police department and the Wayne County Coroners Office. All of these entities worked together to bring this alleged murderer to justice less than eight hours after the crime was committed" said Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson.
