"THIRD UPDATE"

Tippecanoe County-I-65 NB will start opening up immediately.  NB will start opening up at the 172 exit (SR 26), then exit 168 (SR 38), then the 158 exit (SR 28) then exit 146 (SR 47).  Troopers will then lead the traffic from the 141 MM up the interstate to get traffic flowing.  Be sure and follow the direction that troopers and other law enforcement personnel assisting, your complete attention.

Below are the original release information.

Tippecanoe County-I -65 NB between the 172 MM (SR 26 exit) and the 175 MM (SR 25 exit) is closed due to a structural bridge problem over the Wildcat Creek.  For the motoring public's safety, the bridge will be closed for repair for at least 12 hours while INDOT and Walsh Construction work on repairing the bridge.

Alternative routes of travel are exiting at SR 38 (the 168 MM) and go west on SR 38 till you get to Sagamore Parkway.  Go north on Sagamore Parkway till you get to the SR 25 north intersection.  Go north on SR 25 till you reach the I-65 north entrance ramp.

Second route would be to exit at the SR 26 and go west on SR 26 till you reach Sagamore Parkway.  Go right ill you reach the SR 25 north intersection. Go north on SR 25 till you reach the I-65 north entrance ramp.

A third route would be if you are coming from Indianapolis, to exit off at the 141 MM onto US 52 and take it all the way through Lafayette and follow the SR 25 north intersection to I-65 as stated in the other two alternative routes.

Local Lafayette traffic should attempt to find alternate routes of travel during the afternoon commute to home.

"UPDATE" The official INDOT route of travel is exiting off at the 141 MM (US 52) at Lebanon, IN and travel up US 52 to SR 28.  Go west on SR 28 to US 231 in Romney, IN.  Go north on US 231 all the way through West Lafayette and then turn left at the US 52 US 231 stop light.  Continue on US 231/US 52 to Montmorenci and continue north on US 231 to I-65 NB ramp which is about 15 miles. 

"SECOND UPDATE" The timeline for opening up I-65 NB from the 141 MM (Boone County) to the 175 MM (Tippecanoe County) has been extended from at least 12 hours to 24 hours to 48 hours to repair the bridge.  Find alternate routes of travel for the next couple of days.
