National Night Out 2015
On Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., residents participated in our 5th annual National Night Out event. Members of our community came out of their homes and spent the evening with neighbors and City officials. Residents had the opportunity to speak with members of the City Council, law enforcement, fire, and other agencies including the Los Banos Police Department, Los Banos Fire Department, Public Works, Recreation, California Highway Patrol, and Merced County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team.
“This year’s event gave residents an opportunity to meet police, ask questions, view cutting edge law enforcement and firefighting equipment, all while enjoying food, family and community.”
- Jason Hedden, Police Commander
National Night Out is designed to promote and strengthen the partnership between the community and police. National Night Out sends a message to criminals letting them know the neighborhoods and police are united and fighting back against criminal activity.
We considered National Night Out 2015 successful beyond what we saw in previous years. We were able to connect with residents we generally would not have interaction with, and this provided an opportunity for positive interaction between police and the community.
Several local businesses and organizations sponsored our 2015 National Night Out campaign. Target, Republic Services, Sapos Fun N Jump, and Los Banos PAL were among the major contributors. We owe a special thanks to resident Glenna Areias for donating power for the event bounce houses.
